9.30 a.m. Teach Chinese – The Active Way We will explore the TPR theory of language learning. (Total Physical Response) TRP encourages students to be active and demonstrate their comprehension of the Chinese language through actions and activities. It is very useful for beginner learners, and this workshop is useful for primary-aged pupils, but the concepts could be adapted for secondary schools.

11.00 a.m. Tea/Coffee break social networking

11.30 a.m. The Thematic Approach to Teaching Chinese assessment activities, and vocabulary content. During this workshop we will explore how to use themes in teaching Chinese. Themes are a great way to pull together a number of topics, so learning is effective and meaningful to the students. Teachers will run through the process of developing their own themes using learning outcomes. Very useful for both primary and secondary schools.

1.00 p.m. Finish

Lunch is not provided but if participants are interested, there is a Thai restaurant nearby where we can have lunch together.
